Pneumatic Transfer System
Pneumatic transfer system (PTS) is used for short-lived radioisotope studies. It consists of a pipe that connects a pneumatic laboratory to an irradiation location inside the reactor core. PTS is operated using the concept of air pressure difference.
The sample sending/receiving station is located in a fume hood located in the pneumatic room. Just like the rotary rack, sample must first be put into a sample container (plastic vial). The container is then sealed and inserted into the irradiation container.
