COURTESY VISIT BY DR. KIRSTEN CUTLER, SENIOR STRATEGIST FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY INNOVATION, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE TO MALAYSIAN NUCLEAR AGENCY

BANGI, 16 Jun 2025 - The Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuklear Malaysia) received a courtesy visit from Dr. Kirsten Cutler, Senior Strategist for Nuclear Energy Innovation, U.S. Department of State, together with the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, on 16 June 2025. The visit aimed to explore the potential for bilateral cooperation between the United States and Nuklear Malaysiain the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy and nuclear technology.

The meeting held in conjunction with the courtesy visit was chaired by YBrs. Dr. Nor Pa’iza Mohamad Hasan, Senior Director (Commercial dan Technology Planning Program), Nuklear Malaysia, and was also attended by representatives from the Planning and International Relations Division, Technical Support Division, Technology Commercialisation Division, and Information Management Division of Nuklear Malaysia, as well as the International Division and the Strategic Technology and S&T Applications Division from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

Among the topics discussed during Dr. Kirsten Cutler's visit was the Foundational Infrastructure for Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) program. The FIRST program is a U.S. government initiative that provides capacity-building support to strategic partner countries exploring the potential of small modular reactors (SMRs) and other advanced nuclear reactor technologies.
