SMK Sungai Kruit Appointed as MADANI Adopted School by Malaysian Nuclear Agency
Sungkai, 13 June – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sungai Kruit in Sungkai, Perak has been selected as a 'Madani Adopted School' by the Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuklear Malaysia), marking a strategic collaboration between an educational institution and a government agency in support of national education and community development.
To initiate this partnership, a coordination meeting was held at the school’s Operations Room, attended by a delegation from Nuklear Malaysia led by Dr. Shukri bin Mohd, Senior Director of the Management Programme, along with six officers from various divisions.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by SMK Sungai Kruit's principal, Mr. Amran Marhamdan. Also present were Ms. Nor Azizah binti Mohamad and Ms. Noor Aida Ahmad from the Special Schools Unit of the Perak State Education Department, as well as Mr. Mohd Halmi bin Miswan and Mr. Mohd Azizul Zamry from the Batang Padang District Education Office.
The main agenda of the meeting was to present proposed projects based on the school's current priorities and needs. The three main proposals included: upgrading Dewan Jauhari (the school hall), upgrading the school’s field grandstand, and implementing a STEM Excellence Programme.
According to Mr. Amran, the upgrading of Dewan Jauhari will significantly benefit not only the school’s staff and students, but also the surrounding community, as the hall is frequently used as a temporary flood evacuation centre and as a venue for large-scale academic programmes. Meanwhile, the proposed grandstand upgrade is expected to boost student motivation and enhance the quality of athletic events at the district level.
"The STEM Excellence Programme is designed to benefit students from SMK Sungai Kruit and neighbouring schools, in line with efforts to strengthen interest and performance in science and technology," he added.
All proposals received full support from Nuklear Malaysia, the Perak State Education Department, and the Batang Padang District Education Office. All parties expressed commitment to realising the MADANI Adopted School initiative, with the hope that the outcomes will positively impact both the school and the wider community.
This initiative is in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises holistic development, unity, and the well-being of the people through cross-agency collaboration.
