ALURTRON adalah pusat khidmat penyinaran alur elektron di Nuklear Malaysia yang menempatkan dua mesin alur elektron; satu bertenaga tinggi 3.0 MeV (EPS-3000) dan satu bertenaga rendah 200 keV (Curetron). Kedua-dua mesin ini dilengkapi dengan beberapa sistem penghantaran produk serta disokong oleh makmal QA/QC untuk ujian dosimetri dan polimer.

Mesin EPS-3000 digunakan dengan meluas dalam penyinaran secara komersial bagi tujuan:

  • Taut-silang penebat wayar dan kabel,
  • Taut-silang tiub kecut haba,
  • Taut-silang bahan polimer,
  • Taut-silang dan pensterilan produk farmaseutikal seperti sarung tangan, picagari dan pembalut luka,
  • Pensterilan produk perubatan,
  • Rawatan gas serombong (flue gas),
  • Rawatan sisa air industri dan kumbahan.

Khidmat penyinaran yang diberikan adalah cepat, efisien, seragam dan baik. Ini adalah kerana sistem kawalan mesin EPS-3000 dapat menjalankan proses penyinaran dengan cara mengubah masa penyinaran dan keseragaman untuk produk besar yang berpermukaan luas. Proses ini dijalankan pada suhu bilik dengan kemampuan produktiviti yang tinggi.

Curetronpula digunakan untuk rawatan permukaan pelbagai aplikasi industri berasaskan kayu, plastik dan keluli, termasuk papan partikel, papan fiber, kerajang aluminium dan dakwat.

Kemudahan ALUTRON

Alurtron operated with 3 electron beam machines:

  • The EPS-3000 electron beam machine is provides fast irradiation processing with a high efficiency, high uniformity and good control.
  • The ELV 4 is a low voltage electron beam machine with the energy up till 1.0 MeV. It was installed to complement irradiation services provided by the EPS, specifically for products with low energy requirement. The ELV 4 is a transformer type, direct accelerator, while the EPS-3000 is of Cockroft-Walton type.
  • The Curetron on the other hand is specially used for R&D in surface curing and modification.


At ALURTRON, we provide electron beam irradiation service to treat finished products. The facility is equipped with handling systems to treat tubal products such as tubes, wires and cables. Currently the facility is servicing commercial automotive wire and heat shrinkable tube manufactures to crosslink their products using electron beam. Electron beam could also be used for sterilization purposes. At commercial level, sago hydrogel based products such as facial mask, wound dressing and “cool-fever” patch are irradiated for simultaneous sterilization and cross linking.

Environmental and pollution control for waste water treatment

Advantages of electron beam Irradiation:

  • The finished products have better physical properties compared to those crosslinked by conventional chemical method.
  • E-beam crosslinking does not require any additives, nor does it generate hazardous chemical by-products. This method is energy efficient, and the minimal amount of exposure time
  • Throughput is higher with low operating costs. 
  • Electron beam treatment is an effective and environment-friendly approach of disinfecting drinking water, sewage, and sludge. Besides decolorize the water, EB process is also used to change non-biodegradable to biodegradable
  • Alurtron provides irradiation services for research and commercial product. Researchers are welcome to use our facility.
