What is non-ionizing radiation?

Non-ionizing radiation is any electromagnetic radiation that does not "ionize an atom", and ultrasonic as well as sonic radiation. "Ionizing an atom," means removing an electron from the atom. Energy that is absorbed from an electromagnetic field in the process of removing an electron, is only absorbed or in "quanta" or packages of energy, which are directly related to the wavelength and frequency of the electromagnetic radiation.

Pengurusan Sisa Radioaktif PDF Print
Technical Services

  • Stor penyimpanan sisa radioaktif
  • Loji rawatan sisa cecair paras rendah
  • Membuka (dismantle) dan mengkondisi sisa punca terkedap
  • Lori pengangkut sisa/bahan radioaktif
  • Kemudahan penyimpanan sementara bahan radioaktif

Development of Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA) from Palm Oil Resins PDF Print
Current R&D Projects

The Development of Coatings, Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Printing Inks from Palm Oil Based Resins Cured by Irradiation

Objectives

To produce palm oil-based acrylated resins in a larger scale (the extension of present laboratory scale production).
To venture new applications of palm oil-based resins such as coating of fertilisers & wood-cement composite panels, pressure sensitive adhesives & printing inks.
Background

The laboratory scale production (1-5 liters) of palm oil based acrylated resin have started at MINT laboratory (Radiation Processing Technology Division) since 1989. Since then, palm oil based resins together with commercial resins have extensively been used in the formulations of radiation curable coating materials for substrates such as woods, bamboos, plastics, gypsum etc.
