The Development of Coatings, Pressure Sensitive Adhesives and Printing Inks from Palm Oil Based Resins Cured by Irradiation Objectives To produce palm oil-based acrylated resins in a larger scale (the extension of present laboratory scale production). To venture new applications of palm oil-based resins such as coating of fertilisers & wood-cement composite panels, pressure sensitive adhesives & printing inks. Background The laboratory scale production (1-5 liters) of palm oil based acrylated resin have started at MINT laboratory (Radiation Processing Technology Division) since 1989. Since then, palm oil based resins together with commercial resins have extensively been used in the formulations of radiation curable coating materials for substrates such as woods, bamboos, plastics, gypsum etc. |
